Mental Health & Homebody

This week at Homebody we wanted to focus on mental health and how just very simple improvements to our daily schedule can help make all the difference to our mood .

It is so normal right now to be worried and taking those concerns to bed with us but when we get a good nights sleep, we simply cope better and our health will not suffer.

At Homebody we take sleep and our time in the home very seriously and consider not just the time you hit the pillow as sleep, but also that last hour before our eyes shut when you are unwinding and switching off. We try to adopt a more strategic plan of being disciplined enough to switch off the computer and shut off the phone.

Our key to sleep success, is very simple - Homebody is so soft and comforting to wear and putting something on that feels amazing; lasts forever and adapts to the body temperature during the night helps to soothe both mind and body. Simply that routine of showering then changing will help the unwind period to begin.

Oner of the key experts in sleep, neuroscientist Matthew Walker puts it so well;

“SLEEP IS THE UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDER; WHATEVER THE PHYSICAL OR MENTAL AILMENT, SLEEP HAS A PRESCRIPTION IT CAN DISPENSE

We have been told many times that sleep is a critical pillar to our wellbeing – but why are these words so relevant today and why do we at Homebody care? I believe we should think of the pandemic as a moment for a reset – time to stop and take a new approach to old habits.

At Homebody we take sleep and our time in the home very seriously and consider not just the time you hit the pillow as sleep but also that last hour before our eyes shut when you are unwinding and switching off.

For many right now that last hour is rammed with Netflix saturation or CNN overload.But at Homebody we encourage you to adopt a more strategic plan of being disciplined enough to switch off the computer and shut off the phone.

Our key to sleep success, is very simple - Homebody is so soft and comforting  to wear  – Putting something on that feels amazing; lasts forever and adapts to the body temperature during the night so when you are warm the sleepwear doesn’t get too hot but matches your body temperature, this  soothes both mind and body and simply that routine of showering then changing will help the unwind period to begin.

We often don’t realise when we are sleep deprived, we just wander around feeling tired all day, and are more moody and bad tempered but when you do get a full night’s sleep, whatever we face, we seem to do better when we know we are well rested

“I JUST SNAPPED’ THESE WORDS ARE OFTEN PART OF AN UNFOLDING TRAGEDY AS A SOLDIER IRRATIONALLY RESPONDS TO A PROVOCATIVE CIVILIAN, A PHYSICIAN TO AN ENTITLED PATIENT OR A PARENT TO A MISBEHAVING CHILD. ALL OF THESE SITUATIONS ARE ONES IN WHICH INAPPRROPRIATE ANGER AND HOSTILITY ARE DEALT OUT BY TIRED, SLEEP- DEPRIVED INDIVIDUALS ‘
